Peter Preston, editor of the Guardian from 1975 to 1995, received an honorary degree at my graduation yesterday. He was awarded by university chancellor, John Simpson. Peter Preston continues to write at the Guardian’s Comment is free. He is a political hero, and I am proud that my university chose to recognise his work.
